After a hard day at work and a condominium-board meeting, accountant Ugo Fantozzi goes on a trip with his family. Unfortunately, he will face a nasty surprise upon his return.

Eddie Dash (Richard Pryor) é um golpista que foi obrigado a prestar 100 horas de serviço comunitário, para conseguir sua condicional. Eddie tem de acompanhar George (Gene Wilder), um mentiroso compulsivo que acaba de sair de um sanatório, após alguns anos de internação. Assim que George começa a circular várias pessoas o cumprimentam como se fosse Abe Fielding, um milionário, e logo vai morar em uma mansão com Elaine (Mercedes Ruehl), sua esposa. George não entende nada e sabe que nunca viu nem esta casa nem esta mulher, temendo dentro deste contexto voltar a mentir novamente. Daata Guru (Amrish Puri) is a wealthy, powerful, and influential head of a village. He owns and controls all the villagers and their properties. Anyone who dares to raise their voice against him is crushed by his employee, Shankar (Dharmendra), and his sons, Guman (Gulshan Grover) and Karan (Akshay Kumar). When Daata Guru learns that Shankar has abducted his widowed daughter-in-law, Lakhsmi (Jaya Pradha), and has married her, he is enraged and wants Shankar dead. Daata Guru also instigates Karan against Shankar, and threatens the villagers to cut off their water supply if they do not turn in Shankar to him. What will Shankar do to protect his new wife and himself from the wrath of Daata Guru and his men?
