Sinopse: Em 1939, o capitão do submarino alemão Günther Prien recebe ordens para se infiltrar na base da Marinha Real Britânica em Scapa Flow, na Escócia, e afundar os navios de guerra britânicos. Depois de uma patrulha bem-sucedida, o Tenente-Capitão Prien recebe a ordem de com o seu submarino U 47 penetrar na baía de Scapa Flow, na Escócia, o maior porto da frota britânica. A missão é bem-sucedida. Prien afunda dois navios de guerra ingleses, um deles o encouraçado HMS Royal Oak e é celebrado como um herói popular. Seu ex-amigo Pastor Friedrich Kille, por outro lado, assumiu a luta por mais humanidade. Ele conseguirá transformar o soldado Prien?
