Sinopse: Filme mudo. Luis, estróina carioca, é contratado por um usineiro mineiro para substituir o vilão Pedro Bento na gerência da usina. Apaixona-se por Anita, filha do usineiro. Cartas anônimas de Pedro levam o namoro, mantido em segredo, ao conhecimento do usineiro, que não aceita o casamento por não conhecer a família de Luis e afasta sua filha da usina. Prosseguem o namoro em segredo. Pedro, por vingança, dinamita a chaminé da usina. Pedro e Luis se enfrentam numa luta que leva à morte do vilão.
