Limite inicia com a imagem de uma mulher abraçada por um homem algemado, uma imagem prototípica a ser variada e diversificada ao longo do filme. Esta proto-imagem introduz o leitmotiv do aprisionamento e abre caminho para uma longa e quase hipnótica cena de barco, que serve para nos transportar ao continuum do tempo, um estado amorfo fluido, onde o cérebro-câmera se move para o passado, traçando certas linhas de memória, episódios e detalhes associados, objetos, movimentos e imagens, flashes visuais de limitação que se refletem em outras imagens e, assim, saem de um estado fixo, limitado e que desaparecem posteriormente sem motivo aparente. Um naufrágio na tempestade nos leva de volta à proto-imagem original, o tema inicial, agora estendido e enriquecido pelas variações visuais e rítmicas que experimentamos.
