Para criar a ilusão de sete músicos idênticos, o filme exigiu sete exposições múltiplas simultâneas. Além disso, o efeito exigia uma coordenação cuidadosa no tempo e na posição do corpo entre as exposições. Primeiro, Méliès percorreu uma fila, arrumando as sete cadeiras em fila e sentando-se na última; em seguida, o filme foi rebobinado na câmera seis vezes para permitir que Méliès fizesse o papel de cada músico. Durante a filmagem da parte de cada músico, todas as outras cadeiras foram mascaradas das lentes para evitar que ficassem expostas.
