Guru Chela

Guru Chela is a heartfelt short film celebrating the timeless bond between a teacher Guru and student Chela. The story revolves around a young Chela who invites his Guru to attend his Bratabandha ceremony, a significant event in Nepalese culture marking a boy's transition into adulthood and spiritual maturity. The ceremony takes place at the Southall Temple in the United Kingdom, bringing together tradition and diaspora life. The Bratabandha combines choodakarma tonsure and Upanayana samskara, symbolizing a promise vrata and a sacred bond bandhana. It is a moment of reflection on cultural identity and spiritual growth. As the Guru blesses the Chela during the rituals, the film delves into their profound relationship. The Guru, representing the source of wisdom and guidance, imparts teachings on life and spirituality, while the Chela demonstrates respect and gratitude for his mentor's influence.

Eminem Behind the Lyrics

Rapper, record producer and songwriter Marshall Bruce Mathers III, commonly known as Eminem was born in 1972 in Kansas City, USA. Having sold over 100 million albums worldwide, he is regarded as one of the best selling artists in the world and has been previously ranked as the best selling artist of the 2000's. Eminem burst on to the US charts in 1999 with a controversial take on the hip hop subgenre, horrorcore. His first major label debut album Slim Shady EP contains a provocative fest of violent, twisted lyrics and is claimed to be written from the perspective of his alter ego Slim Shady. While offending an array of individuals and various other artists named in his album lead him to become one of the biggest starts on the planet. Eminem isn't just about controversy and shock value. The often misunderstood major talent has given white rappers credibility with his string of Grammy nominations , his critically acclaimed film 8 mile and three multiplatinum studio albums.

Frensham Great Pond

Frensham Great Pond is a heartwarming short film about the bond between a brother, Arjun, and his sisters, Manisha and Puspa. When the sisters asked Arjun to take them to a beautiful place, he chose one of his favorite spots-Frensham Great Pond, a picturesque destination in Hampshire known for its stunning scenery and rich history. The trio spent the day exploring the breathtaking heathland, serene woodland, and the two large ponds that date back to the Middle Ages, originally built to supply fish for the Bishop of Winchester's estate. Arjun shared his love for the place, guiding his sisters through the peaceful surroundings and pointing out its natural beauty. Together, they enjoyed a day of laughter, relaxation, and shared memories. The film captures the simple joys of family, nature, and the timeless connection that comes from spending quality time together in a place as beautiful and meaningful as Frensham Great Pond.

Small Boat

The photographs of two elderly people used in this work were taken during a train journey in the first half of Ishii's previous work, "Wind crossing" He uses it as a photograph. There is no doubt that these two are particularly memorable for Ishii, but how should we as an audience perceive these acts? Then something occurred to me. In my work "Guiding Star", there is a part where I walk through an underground passage at night during a trip in Hokuriku. That place was Kanazawa. Lately I've been visiting Kanazawa every year for the Maki Asakawa live video screening, but most of the time I travel from Kansai to Kanazawa, or vice versa, by express bus. Then, the bus always passes through that underground passage. Ah, it was here. With that thought in mind, I play with the memories of that trip for a while, no longer happy or sad, but dry and dry. It might be something similar. However, in my case, unlike Ishii's narration in the story, I feel like "it somehow continued to live." M.Yamazaki
