Jogada de Verão

Este verão não poderia ser mais crucial para Ryan Dunne (Freddie Prinze Jr.), um jovem que tem por sonho tornar-se jogador da liga profissional de baseball. Assim como ocorre em todos os verões, os principais jogadores da faculdade vão até Cape Cod a fim de tentar uma vaga na liga profissional durante o dia e se divertir à noite. A chance de Ryan parece enfim ter chegado, mas ele tem sido afetado por tentações fora de campo que tem reduzido seu rendimento. Isto porque chega à cidade Tenley Parrish (Jessica Biel), uma jovem que sempre passa os verões no local e com quem Ryan acaba se envolvendo.
