Himalaia
Rodado num vilarejo perdido ao nordeste do Himalaia, o filme foi feito a partir de uma história real, com habitantes locais como atores. O sal é a vida dos habitantes do lugar. O único fruto da terra neste local gelado, sem vegetação ou árvores. O velho chefe Tinlé, cujo filho mais velho acaba de falecer, recusa-se a deixar que o jovem Karma conduza uma caravana, acusando-o de ser o responsável pela morte de seu filho. Eles eram os jovens líderes das caravanas de iaques que, durante meses, descem alguns dos cinco mil metros de altitude em meio às tempestades de neve para trocar o sal por grãos. Por isto as caravanas nunca podem parar, mas como Tinlé não quer que Karma as lidere, sai em busca de um substituto. Como ninguém pode ajudá-lo, ele pega então o neto e a nora e segue em busca de vingança.
