Stuart (Kevin Nealon) e Nina Pearson (Gilliam Vigman) levam uma vida confortável, juntamente com os filhos Hannah (Ashley Boettcher), Tom (Carter Jenkins) e Bethany (Ashley Tisdale). Um dia o casal resolve passar férias junto com a família. Para tanto é alugada uma casa de três andares, para onde também vão o tio Nate (Andy Richter), seu filho Jake (Austin Robert Butler), a vovó Rose (Doris Roberts) e os gêmeos Art (Henri Young) e Lee (Regan Young). Além disto Ricky (Robert Hoffman), o namorado secreto de Bethany, também aparece no local. Ao anoitecer quatro objetos atingem o telhado, trazendo dentro deles extra-terrestres: Skip (Ashley Peldon), Razor (Kari Wahlgren), Sparks (Josh Peck) e Spike. Os invasores se anunciam como zirkonianos e logo passam a controlar a mente de Ricky. O objetivo deles é usá-lo para dominar o planeta, o que faz com que as cinco crianças precisem se unir para evitar que isto aconteça.
