Half a century ago, Plácido Domingo made his debut at the Arena di Verona: on 16 July 1969 he sang the role of Calaf in Puccini’s “Turandot”; in August followed the title role in Verdi’s “Don Carlo”. Since then, the world-famous singer has appeared in numerous acclaimed performances in the city of Romeo and Juliet. From the Arena di Verona comes an operatic gala concert event, captured live on August 4, 2019, marking the 50th anniversary of the debut of one of the greatest singers the world has ever known. The program features excerpts from three famous operas by Giuseppe Verdi: Nabucco, Macbeth and Simon Boccanegra.

The Last Witness
Director Wolfgang Staudte who left East Germany in 1953 to make movies in West Germany, takes a few swipes at the West German judicial system in this fairly effective courtroom drama about the murder of a four-month-old baby. Police almost immediately arrest the mother Ingrid who is the mistress of the father, a rich business VIP married to another woman. His position and wealth keep him insulated from suspicion. A hot-shot lawyer has to overcome the unaccountably biased perceptions of the police, the judge, the prosecutor and almost everyone else in the judicial system. The defence lawyer, driven to an extreme, knows he has to find the real killer or his client will be convicted.

Hair
"Hair" é uma adaptação cômico-dramática-musical do musical da Broadway de 1968 "Hair: An American Tribal Love-Rock Musical". Claude, um jovem do Oklahoma que foi recrutado para a guerra do Vietnã, está indo se apresentar no campo de treinamento do exército. O filme conta a história de uma adolescente, Agnes, que se mudou com a família para uma pequena cidade sueca chamada Amal, o lugar mais chato da terra, segundo ela mesma. Para complicar ainda mais as coisas, ela está apaixonada por Elin, uma garota do colégio, porém o único a saber desta paixão é seu computador, onde ela faz todas as suas anotações. No dia de seu aniversário, Agnes não percebe que a irmã mais velha de Elin descobre suas anotações e faz uma aposta com a irmã: se ela deixar Agnes beijá-la, pagará à irmã 20 cronas(moeda sueca).
