A fase mais prolífera e de maior fama da Boca do Lixo é, normalmente, associada às pornochanchadas. A temática, no entanto, não foi a única abordada pelos cineastas, que criaram dramas, thrillers, westerns e aventuras, além de títulos policiais e históricos.
