Charlotte Cory (Connie Nielsen) foi condenada à pena máxima e está à espera de sua execução, no corredor da morte. Através de cartas ela conhece e se corresponde com Frank Nitzche (Aidan Quinn), enquanto sua advogada tenta desesperadamente apelar do veredicto.
