A esposa e o filho de Abe Dale (Nathan Fillion) são brutalmente assassinados diante de seus olhos, sem que ele possa fazer algo para impedir. Esta experiência faz com que Abe consiga ver o mundo dos mortos sem qualquer equipamento, o que faz com que perceba que as pessoas que estão prestes a morrer emanam uma luz branca brilhante. Ele passa então a tentar salvá-las a todo custo.
