Sinopse: O Rio São Francisco atravessa o Sertão brasileiro, de terras marcadas pela aridez extrema. Este grande rio outrora impetuoso e generoso está hoje muito fragilizado. O desmatamento de suas margens e uma super exploração das terras por uma agricultura intensiva, colocam em perigo a grande diversidade de seu ecossistema. A vida dos ribeirinhos é afetada na sua integridade mais profunda, assim como suas áreas. O Rio São Francisco é o fluxo vital de suas existências e o lugar central de suas esperanças e de seu imaginário, mas o sentimento geral é de que se o rio morrer, tudo desaparecerá com ele. As mulheres estão na vanguarda da resistência. Elas lutam cotidianamente para permitir a possibilidade de um futuro. Seus filhos também reivindicam essa identidade, que cabe a eles renovar e fazer frutificar.

1989: 64th and last year of the Showa era. A girl is kidnapped and killed. The unsolved case is called Case 64 ('rokuyon'). 2002: Yoshinobu Mikami, who was the detective in charge of the Case 64, moves as a Public Relations Officer in the Police Affairs Department. His relation with the reporters is conflicted and his own daughter is missing. The statute of limitations for the Case 64 will expire in one year. Then a kidnapping case, similar to the Case 64, takes place. The rift between the criminal investigation department and police administration department deepens. Mikami challenges the case as a public relations secretary.

Kouta Noda is a 2nd grade high school student at a village. A transfer student, Tendo, from Tokyo becomes Kouta Noda’s classmate. Tendo has a mysterious mood. The two teens becomes friends and spend time having fun, but, one day, one of Kouta's friends disappears. There is a local village legend that one kid will disappear every 100 years.
