Sinopse: Em 1970, auge da repressão pela ditadura militar, cinco guerrilheiros presos vieram a público renegar a luta armada e elogiar o regime. Com a repercussão das declarações, o governo resolveu transformar as retratações em prática de Estado. Passou a torturar opositores para que fizessem o mea-culpa. Até 1975, cerca de quarenta presos participaram dos “arrependimentos”, como ficaram conhecidos. Os Arrependidos reconta a história pouco lembrada de ex-militantes que, muito jovens, largaram tudo para arriscar a vida por uma causa, foram presos e torturados, e viraram arma de propaganda de seus inimigos.

O documentário conta a história de sem-tetos, refugiados africanos e imigrantes latino-americanos que ocuparam o prédio de um antigo cinema do Centro de São Paulo e o processo artístico que os transformou em estrelas de cinema. A equipe do filme reabriu a sala de projeção e exibiu títulos que estiveram em cartaz ali 60 anos antes, como “A Grande Ilusão” (1937), de Jean Renoir, e “Noites de Circo” (1953), de Ingmar bergman. Os moradores participaram de uma oficina de teatro e reencenaram, como atores, trechos desses clássicos.
