Sinopse: Enquanto Ilene ainda enfrenta a dor da trágica perda de seu marido, um heroico bombeiro da cidade, ela começa a encarar de frente a revolta de seu filho adolescente, Jackson, que sente a falta do pai. Para cuidar do menino problemático, ela pede a ajuda de seu próprio pai, Wyatt, um fazendeiro que vive distante da família. Embora seja um bom homem, Wyatt tem um jeito peculiar de ser - e o neto acaba resistindo às tentativas do avô em ensinar-lhe as virtudes do trabalho e da fé. Gradualmente, eles formam um laço que fará com que Jackson tenha que encontrar uma força interior com a qual nunca sonhou, mas que será primordial para evitar uma nova tragédia familiar.
