Descending Stories: A Life In Rakugo

Set during the early Showa period, Yakumo enters the world of rakugo. He forms a friendship with talented storyteller Yurakutei. Yakumo admires Yurakutei’s talent and struggles to achieve his level of performance. With the help of geisha Miyokichi, Yakumo grows up as a rakugo storyteller. Yurakutei and Miyokichi get married, but they die in a mysterious accident. Yakumo takes Konatsu, who is the child of Yurakutei and Miyokichi, and raises her. Konatsu grows up blaming Yakumo as her parents’ enemy. Konatsu and Yakumo’s disciple Yotaro chases after the truth of her parents’ death, which Yakumo hides.

Borola Kai

The television series BOROLA KAI revolves around a person, and the people associated with this special character. The main character of BOROLA KAI hails from Upper Assam but has been staying in Lower Assam where he is employed as a teacher. BOROLA KAI in Assamese parlance is an unmarried person (BOROLA is an unmarried person while KAI in Assamese is the shortened form for brother). This person becomes quite famous in the locality he stays and the plot revolves around attempts made by his neighbours and friends to find him a bride. The tele-serial focus on the semi-rural life and the simplicity of the people living in rural pockets of Assam. The love and concern people in rural and semi-urban areas of Assam in particular have for one another, their emotions and the strong bond of comradeship find ample reflection through the characters of the serial. BOROLA KAI, thus, has been getting high viewership week in and week out.

Tarek Helmy is a young married psychiatrist who has a daughter named Farida. On her first birthday, a patient called Tawfiq Al-Masry comes to Tarek, explaining to him an experiment he wants to carry out: he will pick someone, "The Chosen", and put him through a cycle of self-destructive crises over thirty days.

Frauentausch

Frauentausch is a German reality television series broadcast on RTL II. This program is similar to other Wife Swap programs, when, for ten days, wives exchange homes and families. They are allowed to advise each other through a video and information cards. The meet blindfolded, half-way en route to their new homes. They are allowed to greet each other, then are later asked for their impression of the meeting. On the tenth and last day of the swap the wives prepare for their trip home, and say goodbye to their substitute families. At the half-way point en route to their apartments, the women or men meet each other again. They might give each other advice on what they can change or talk about problems encountered, etc. Sometimes the discussions end in insults or even in violence. Finally we see their arrival at their own home and how their families receive them. On May 18, 2006, the hundredth episode was shown with a big anniversary special. It was shown whether the lives have changed of the families who have taken part at Frauentausch or whether there are new friendships between some families. Prisma Film produces with Tausche Familie a similarly successful format for Austrian television.
