Sinopse: No decorrer dos primeiros anos, o programa conduzido por Silvia Pinal apresentou muitas histórias de amor, alegres e leves. A suavidade do programa era necessária na década de 80, tendo em vista que temas violentos não eram debatidos na televisão mexicana. Com a entrada dos anos 90, no entanto, a série ousou tratar de temas mais arriscados, apresentando casos de aborto, abuso infantil, sequestro, homossexualidade, incesto, prostituição, vandalismo, câncer, AIDS e muitos outros. Tais mudanças levou o programa a discutir temas que normalmente se mantinham longe da opinião pública.

A história segue nossa heroína independente Lu Xiaonan e ela tem muito medo do casamento. Ela sabe que não se trata simplesmente da união de dois indivíduos, mas de confrontar e resolver conflitos em conjunto. Além disso, é a unificação de duas famílias – pai e sogra, etc., por isso ela não encara o casamento levianamente. Ela conhece o homem dos seus sonhos em Kevin, um professor universitário, que basicamente vem sem amarras (sem família ao seu lado…). Ele irradia calor e bondade e é capaz de se ajustar em qualquer condição, por exemplo, jogar ele na cozinha e ele pode cozinhar! Os dois se casam e Kevin revela que quer procurar sua família há muito perdida. Quando eles localizam sua família, os recém-casados são trazidos para a família e Xiaonan luta para se adaptar ao lugar lotado. Mas com a ajuda de seu marido firme, ela encontra um novo significado na família. Por outro lado, Kevin descobre a verdade por trás de sua perda de memória na infância.
