Kyoko, é uma jovem de espírito inabalável presa a uma cadeira de rodas, devido a uma doença; Shuji, é um estiloso e popular cabeleireiro de uma revista de moda; eles se encontrão através de um acidente de trânsito e apesar do encontro desastroso, eles logo se vêem apaixonados, com Shuji, encantado pela coragem e entusiasmo dela, e, Kyoko, atraída pela habilidade dele em enxergar além de suas limitações físicas e principalmente as suas emoções. Porém, há o irmão mais velho protetor dela e sua condição física, que piora a cada dia, começando assim a testar os limites desse amor.

Empire Road was a British television series, made by the BBC in 1978 and 1979. Written by Michael Abbensetts, the show ran for two seasons of eight episodes each.
